Dogwood Farms Family Photographer | Family Photos Near Winston-Salem, NC
As a Charlotte, NC family and maternity photographer, Dogwood Farms in Belews Creek (near Winston-Salem and Greensboro) is worth the drive. It offers the kind of natural setting that makes family photography feel effortless. With wide-open fields, beautiful greenery, and plenty of space for children to explore, it gives us a variety of backdrops without making your session feel overly posed.
The natural surroundings also allow children to simply be themselves. Instead of asking everyone to sit perfectly still for the entire session, we can walk, play, snuggle, and explore together while I photograph the gently guided moments. It is also a wonderful time for children because the session feels less like a traditional photo shoot and more like an adventure outside.
And when the light begins to soften in the evening, the fields become especially beautiful.
What to Expect During Your Family Session
If your children aren't naturally inclined to sit still and smile on command, don't worry. That's actually one of my favorite things about photographing families.
I will gently guide your family through a combination of natural interactions and lightly posed portraits. We may start with a few traditional family photographs and then move into walking, playing, cuddling, and exploring.
You don't have to know how to pose.
You don't have to worry about getting everyone to look at the camera at exactly the same time.
And you definitely don't need to spend the entire week before your session practicing your children's smiles.
Instead, come ready to spend time together.
I'll take care of the rest.
If you're a family in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Clemmons, Lewisville, Kernersville, the surrounding Triad area, or even Charlotte and you're looking for a beautiful location for your family portraits, Dogwood Farms is a wonderful option.
My most popular times for family sessions at Dogwood Farms are spring and fall, when the fields are especially beautiful and full of seasonal color.
The family featured in this session chose an hour-long family photography session, which gave us plenty of time to explore two different fields and even sneak in a quick outfit change in the car. We spent the evening playing games, laughing, exploring, and enjoying the beauty of the fields together.
I love creating family sessions that feel less like a photoshoot and more like a little adventure. The goal isn't just to capture everyone looking at the camera—it's to document the connection, personalities, and joy that make your family uniquely yours.
